As the first ever Endless Surf lagoon started pumping waves we invited out some of the world’s best who were eager to come surf it for themselves. Traveling far and wide, a motley crew of pros descended upon Munich with a shared goal in mind: to put our new technology to the test.
From world champions to famous free surfers it was a solid lineup of riders including:
- CJ Hobgood – 2001 WSL World Champion
- Mikey February – South African surfing style icon
- Ian Gentil – Hawaiian Championship Tour surfer
- Oliver Kurtz – Florida freesurfer and air specialist
- Reed Platenius – Canadian Natl. Champ and coldwater swell charger
- Tya Zebrowski – 13yr old current #1 on the Women’s Qualifying Series
- Leon Glatzer – Former Olympian and German National Champ
The crew put on an absolute clinic as they were able to try out the many different wave settings on tap, and test some brand new ones that were customized on the spot (Stay tuned for more on this…). From custom waves and our critically acclaimed air section to the crystal clear water, everyone enjoyed non-stop action for about three days straight. Once they were thoroughly surfed out, they sat down with us and offered their take on experiencing their first waves with our technology and what it means for progression, performance, and the future of surfing.
A common theme that resonated amongst the group? ‘The sky is the limit’ when it comes to Endless Surf. And no, we’re not just talking about the air section… What really resonated was the true power and flexibility that comes with ES. From being able to land new maneuvers to seeing the pool operate in different scenarios for different audiences, it’s safe to say that the crew walked away pretty giddy about the future of surfing.
Special thanks to O2 SURFTOWN MUC and to CJ, Mikey, Ian, Oliver, Reed, Tya, and Leon for joining us.
