Mikey’s surfing is pure flow—his style is effortless and his approach creative. So when he linked up with our Wave DJ at O2 SURFTOWN MUC, the goal was simple: creatively shape waves to fit his vision and stylish twin fin lines.
For me, it’s kind of like working with a [surfboard] shaper. You tweak things until you get the feeling you’re looking for” Mikey said. “We aimed to create a wave featuring a hump to generate speed, which is important for executing airs. I love having speed to do big turns on a solid wall. We wanted the wave to stand up more, allowing for strong, powerful turns that you can approach with speed from the hump. This was exciting for me because, while getting barreled is great, having good speed and a solid wall to lay into a big turn feels nice. That was my goal.”
With our Swell Studio software we were able to adjust height, speed, pitch, angle, etc. to create everything from high-performance ramps to smooth, flowing walls with an end bowl section. Watch and hear from from Mikey’s during his session:
